La Selva dei Molini Valley It branches off from the Tures Valley and ascends through woods, farms, and streams to Lappago and Lake Neves. It's a quiet side valley, with two distinct souls: the farming villages on the valley floor and the high-altitude environment around the large reservoir.

The German name Mühlwalder Tal It appears frequently, while Selva dei Molini, or Mühlwald, is the administrative centre; Lappago, or Lappach, is located higher up and constitutes the gateway to the headland.

The road climbs from Molini di Tures following the water's edge and passes through scattered villages, while Selva dei Molini offers basic services and a landscape of meadows; Lappago is located at a higher altitude, near the starting points for waterfalls and trails.

The bus reaches Lappago and allows you to explore part of the valley without a car, while the final stretch towards Neves requires separate planning, especially when the road is closed or regulated.

Lake Neves

Il Neves Lake It occupies a basin surrounded by Gran Mesule, Punta Bianca, and glacial peaks. The dam is an impressive structure, and a walk near the water offers an immediate appreciation of the Alpine landscape.

The access road is narrow, seasonal, and subject to a toll; construction work and restrictions may also affect pedestrian access on the dam. Before climbing, it's important to check current warnings and avoid relying on information from previous seasons.

Water and paths

The Lappago gorge and waterfall demonstrate the power of the water before reaching the basin, while the walkways can be slippery in the wet sections, and the flow rate changes rapidly after storms.

From the lake, trails lead to refuges and a panoramic high route. These are high-mountain routes, exposed to the weather and possibly snowfields; simply reaching the dam doesn't automatically make the rest of the hike suitable for every visitor.

Villages, walks along the water, and a tour of the lake can appeal to families, choosing the stretch based on age and fitness. The edge of the lake and the dam require constant supervision, while the via ferrata is a separate activity that should only be undertaken with appropriate equipment and expertise.

A family day out is best achieved by focusing on Lappago and Neves, avoiding adding long climbs to the refuges.

Selva dei Molini is the most balanced base between services and tranquility, while Lappago is closer to the headland and the paths, with a more intimate offering; Campo Tures offers a greater choice of accommodation and allows you to alternate this valley with the Aurina Valley and Riva di Tures.
