Lake Ledro
Lake Ledro is located in Val di Ledro a few kilometers from the north shore of Lake Garda, in Trentino Alto Adige.
Thanks to the beauty of its waters, Lake Ledro is an important tourist center in the area. It originated in ancient times but it is only since 1929 that its surface depends on man: the Hydroelectric Power Plant of Riva del Garda in fact uses its waters that pass through an underground tunnel 6 km long and arrive in Riva del Garda. An ancient human settlement on stilts was found on the east bank, discovered on the occasion of the construction of the hydroelectric plant, which in June 2011 was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
In summer, its shores are besieged by tourists and residents to take a bath, to lie in the sun, or to practice fishing, sailing and other water sports. In fact, in the hottest months of the year its clear waters heat up to 24 degrees, and thanks to the absence of strong winds there are no dangerous currents of any kind: swimming is therefore safe and enjoyable.
For those who love to fish, Lake Ledro is full of fish of all kinds, including trout, perch, tench, pike and eels. Fishing is allowed only after obtaining a specific permit, presenting the regular fishing license. Those who love boating, on the other hand, can choose from the wide range of possibilities available: rowing, sailing, motor boats, canoes and even windsurfing, for a day outdoors in an uncontaminated environment.
But of course the most typical day at the lake is spent lying on the shore. Lake Ledro has four official beaches: Molina (the largest and sunniest), Pur (quiet and far from the chaos, but with aarea equipped for dogs), Pieve (with a beautiful beach volleyball court) and Mezzolago (located on a floating platform directly on the lake). All four beaches have basic services such as toilets and parking.
