Colbricon lakes
I Colbricon lakes are located at an altitude of 1924m in Trentino within the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Natural Park, between the Rolle pass and the Colbricon pass, near the border with the Veneto.
The Colbricon lakes are reachable on foot from Malga Rolle: when parking the car, the path that initially starts downhill to the station of a ski lift is clearly marked. From there you cross a small bridge and enter the woods, after approx A very relaxing 30 minute walk and surrounded by a spectacular panorama you arrive at the Colbricon lakes. The walk is suitable for the whole family and in summer it is very popular.
Once at the lakes you can make a comfortable stop at the Colbricon Refuge, near the larger of the two (attention: the Colbricon Refuge is only open from mid-June to mid-September), which was built in 1945 and has a dining room where you can taste typical Trentino dishes. There are also three beds, which however cannot be booked and only emergencies are used.
If you wish, you can continue the hike through meadows and blueberry plants, until you reach the Ces hut or, if desired, it is possible to return to Malga Rolle passing through the base of Monte Cavallazza. This route takes another two hours of walking.
More experienced hikers will be able to appreciate the lakes by taking a circular route along the Colbricon massif: with path number 10 you get to Pian delle Cartucce and from here you head towards the arrival of the Punta Ces chairlift. Continuing to the right going up to Forcella Ceremana, take the path that runs along the Cresta dl Colbricon and then reaches the Colbricon Piccolo, up to Paddo del Colbricon and finally returning to the lakes. The duration of this route is 4 hours and 30 minutes without stopping. Of course, plan to stop several times to take beautiful photographs.

The small Colbricon lakes are one of the most beautiful points of the Paneveggio-Pale di San Martino Natural Park, and have been frequented for some time: in fact, traces of ancient prehistoric settlements have been found near the water, evidence of which can be found inside the refuge located on the shores of the lake. Neolithic hunters are estimated to have inhabited the area over 7000 years ago. But the lakes have also made recent history: in fact, it was here during the First World War that a bitter and bloody battle was fought.
