The Forra del Travignolo is located in Val di Fiemme in the heart of the magnificent Paneveggio Pale di San Martino Natural Park. I discovered this helmet place while walking on the paths that run along the travignolo stream where I love to do some hiking when I finish work in the evening. This splendid stream is immersed in the majestic woods of the Val di Fiemme, beautiful and peaceful places where you can relax in a great way.
I discovered the gorge by accidentally following the trail signs and I was pleasantly surprised by this narrow gorge between the rock walls that can be appreciated from above thanks to two fantastic bridges. There are 2 bridges that cross it, the first is a fantastic covered wooden bridge, its flooring has glass panes that allow you to see below and walking on it seems to be suspended above the stream.
This bridge is located along the rotten nature trail, which can be covered in no more than 20 minutes, it is a circular itinerary that has these bridges at its two ends. The second bridge is if possible even more fascinating than the first because right in correspondence with the Forra del Travignolo we find ourselves crossing a "suspension bridge", similar to the Tibetan bridges, it transmits a sense of wilderness that is well suited to the unspoiled nature of the place.
By its nature this bridge is a bit shaky and is suspended several meters high over the gorge, those suffering from vertigo could have some problems crossing it however it is very safe and there is no danger (except for reckless behavior by those who crosses it). At the beginning, however, there is a warning sign.
How do you get to the Travignolo gorge?
The Forra del Travignolo is very easy to reach, it is located just above the village of Bellamonte, more precisely at the Paneveggio visitor center, from there there are 2 parking lots where you can leave your car, all the indications are already from the parking lot and the Forra it can be reached by following the signs for the “Ponte Sospeso” which is only a 5-minute walk away.
Paths starting from the Travignolo gorge
The Travignolo torrent can be easily climbed up using the paths, from there also several interesting routes start such as the excursion route towards the Colbricon lakes (above San Martino di Castrozza) or the famous Val Venegia where the source of the travignolo is found at the foot of the fantastic Pale di San Martino. Not far from the gorge there is also the enclosure of the deer which is worth a visit.
