Brenta Dolomites
The noise of the streams, the beauty of the mountain lakes, the whiteness of the last snow-capped peaks, the green of the meadows and larch forests. This and much more are the Brenta Dolomites, a UNESCO world heritage site loved by adults and children. But where are they located and which areas to choose for a stay on site? Let's find out together:
Brenta Dolomites, a natural paradise
Inserted within the Adamello Brenta Natural Park, the Brenta Dolomites are a subsection of the Rhaetian Alps, located in the south-western area of Trentino Alto Adige, between the Giudicarie Valleys, Val Rendena, Val di Sole and Val di Not.
For over a century, their natural conformation, which sees the presence of towers and rocky spiers, makes them one of the favorite destinations of mountaineers and hikers. Yet, the abundance of paths suitable for everyone, the beauty of the panoramas and high altitude refuges, makes this portion of the Dolomites a popular destination also for families with children and mountain lovers in general.
The mountain range extends for over 40 km on the north-south direction and is included between Val di Non, Lake Molveno and the Paganella plateau to the east and Val Rendena to the west. There are many famous destinations located in the group and where it is possible to stay: Marilleva, Folgarida, Andalo, Molveno, Dimaro, Pinzolo, Madonna di Campiglio. Those wishing to reach the eastern side of the Brenta group by car can take the Brennero motorway, then take state road 43.
To reach the western side, however, it is necessary to exit at Trento centro, then take the road towards Riva – Madonna di Campiglio. Those who prefer to travel by train should get off at Trento or Mezzocorona and take one of the buses that connect the two railway stations to the mountain resorts mentioned above.
